The Merseyside Nighthawks (0-3) will host their second home game of the year this Sunday as they take on the Manchester Titans (4-1). The teams have already played each other once this year, with the Titans earning a 42-31 victory. Tthe Nighthawks know that they will need to perform much better if they want to avoid another defeat this weekend.
Merseyside are enduring a tough start to the 2018 season in the Premier North having fared much better in 2016 and 2017, finishing both of those seasons at 7-3. The players and coaches know that whatever the reason for the slow start this year, it’s on them to work hard to get the season back on track. Neither offence nor defence have been able to close out games so far and, despite some good individual performances in the opening three games, including a four touchdown performance from wide receiver Alex Eager last weekend, the best chance of getting a win in any game comes from improving the team performance as a whole.
Manchester have hit the ground running in their first year in the Premier North, beating Merseyside, Sheffield, Edinburgh and East Kilbride on their way to a 4-1 start. They have a well run organisation, a large squad of players and are proving that they belong in the Premier North. The Nighthawks will be keen to stop the slide this weekend before two tough away fixtures in a row at Tamworth and Edinburgh.
Come to support them as the game will take place at the JMO Sports Park in Skelmersdale (WN8 8BX) and kick off is 3pm this Sunday 10th of June. Entry to the game is free, and JMO Sports Park has a fully licenced bar, with live sports showing in the Clubhouse.
