Nighthawks @ Falcons : Preview

Ahead of the season opener for the Nighthawks this Sunday, final preparations have been taking place to ensure that the Merseyside outfit are as well prepared as they can going into a tough spell of games, that will see Nighthawks fixtures every week for four weeks.

Our first game of the 2019 season is a tricky tie at Premiership North new boys, Leicester Falcons. The last time the Nighthawks and Leicester faced off was in the 2013 season at Childwall Sports College in Liverpool. The home team squeezed past the Falcons on their way to a 7-2-1 season, before being defeated in the first round of the playoffs by Gateshead.

There have been a host of changes in the league since then, and Leicester are riding high on the back of three very successful seasons. With a regular season record of 29-0-1 coming into the season, it is safe to say that General Manager Guy Kersey and Head Coach Noel Cassar have built a strong outfit in the Midlands. They also won the Division 1 title last year, besting Kent Exiles in an enthralling final 36-29 to seal their second unbeaten season in 3 years. It is safe to say that the Falcons cannot be underestimated either – they started their campaign on April 14th, with a 21-8 victory over Sheffield Giants.
