The Merseyside Nighthawks (0-2) will travel to South Yorkshire this Sunday as they take on the Sheffield Giants (2-2) in a matchup both sides will be very keen to win. Merseyside are looking for their first win of 2018 as they try to get their playoff hopes back on track, whilst Sheffield know a win should help them climb the table as they look for a better finish than last year.
Merseyside haven’t had the kind of start to a season they are used to, having not started a season 0-2 since 2012. They will see a trip to Sheffield as a chance to get back to winning ways against a side they managed to beat twice in 2017, albeit in two very close games. Both the Nighthawks offence and defence will be targeting this game as a chance to bounce back from a disappointing last game but new additions Martin Murphy and Jonny Weekes continue to impress having picked up MVPs in that game.
Sheffield have picked up both their wins so far this season against the East Kilbride Pirates but were beaten by the Manchester Titans and Edinburgh Wolves. A victory against Merseyside would give the Giants a good shot at climbing the table but with the Nighthawks coming off two losses and with a week off to rest up and prepare it might not be the best time to face the ‘Hawks.
The game will be played at Davy’s Sporting Club in Sheffield and kick off is at 2.30pm this Sunday, the 3rd of June. Live updates will be posted on our Facebook page so lookout for them to follow the team this Sunday.
