Nighthawks Junior and Filton Pride graduate, Dominic Woo, is into his 4th year with the Nighthawks, and is looking forward to 2018 and what it has to bring for him personally, and for the team. #21 highlights his hopes for 2018 here.
How did you think the 2017 season went for the Merseyside Nighthawks?
I feel we had a great 2017 season. Making the Semi-Finals for the second year running, facing a difficult London Blitz team was great. There were definitely aspects of the season we could have improved but I feel we’ve managed to do that already so hopeful for the upcoming season.
How has the off/pre-season gone for you personally?
Preseason for me has been great. It started off rocky as I got an injury first session back. But since recovering I’ve been hyped. I’m feeling good in myself and been going to the gym more consistently than I have previously. I feel experience wise I’ve improved a lot and can’t wait to go out there this season and showcase what I can do. As a team, there’s been a real buzz, we’ve recruited really well and the guys we’ve got have really bought in. I think everyone can sense it, and that’s why it’s so exciting.
What are you most looking forward to in 2018?
A few things really. Can’t wait to play Tamworth again, we still owe them one. Looking forward to playing Manchester, closest thing to a derby for us. But I’m really looking forward to what our offence is going to do. We were always high scoring last season and feel like we’ve improved even more so it will be scary to see what we can do to opposing sides.
Is there anyone that you think has shone in practice?
Martin Murphy. He’s done stuff in training that’s made the whole team stop and watch. Even in Camp and that he was always looking solid. I think Vijay is looking good as well. And of course Ben Robinson, he’s improved a lot over the offseason as well, which is saying something considering the stats he posted last season.
