Season Preview – Jordan Houghton, WR, #14

Ex-Halton Spartan, Jordan Houghton, joined the Nighthawks in 2017 and quickly established himself at the club, scoring in numerous games and taking responsibility for Kick Returns amongst other things. #14 tells us what he’s looking forward to in 2018.

How did you think the 2017 season went for the Merseyside Nighthawks?

Personally I think the 2017 season went pretty well for the Nighthawks, it was my first season there and the coaches and players made it enjoyable for me after switching over from the Halton Spartans. This year we are looking at pushing for that britbowl, and I think we have the right things in place to do that. We have recruited well, and now having Harry at OC, I think he’s give the offence a bit of an extra buzz.

How has the off/pre-season gone for you personally?

The off season has gone better for me than I thought it would. I’m over a stone heavier than last year and still as quick, if not quicker than last season, so hopefully I can use that to my ability.

What are you most looking forward to in 2018?

I’m looking forward to winning with my mates on the field tbh, going out and being able to do something I love with my mates is a massive plus for me enjoying this game overall.

Is there anyone that you think has shone in practice?

Players I’m looking forward to seeing play who has shone in practice in the offseason, Dom Woo has had a big off season, and I feel like he’s gonna surprise a few people this season. Jonny Weekes on D could turn a few heads too, I’ve played against Jonny for Chester and always had a small rivalry with him, will be good to be on the same team as him this season. Martin Murphy is another one on the Offence, a lot of people have already mentioned him in their talks, but the guy can shift and will literally run over anything, can’t wait to see what he brings this year after transferring from the Halton Spartans.
