In an expected development in BUCS Football, the University of Liverpool Raptors have named Mark ‘Rio’ Houghton as their new Head Coach. Rio will take over from Craig Pennington, who leaves the role to concentrate on developing the Merseyside Nighthawks Program.
After the longest season in Raptors history had ended in securing the Division Two Conference Cup, HC Pennington leaves the team in good hands, with Houghton having experience at the top level of BAFA Football, as well as having played out in the United States for a year with the Florida Falcons.
Of the appointment, Rio said :-
“I’m thrilled and excited to be appointed the new Head Coach for the Raptors. I’ve been fortunate enough to be around the team since it was first established 4 years ago, working with and learning from one of the best in Coach Pennington. I know I have big shoes to fill, but I’m confident that I can help to lead the team to further success. I’m extremely lucky to have a fantastic group of coaches on hand, as well as the players and committee, and can’t wait to get to work”.
We wish Mark and the Raptors all the best of luck for the 2019 BUCS campaign.
