HISTORY OF THE HAWKS

Initially conceived as the Wirral Wolves in 1984 and converting to the Birkenhead Nighthawks in 1988, the Merseyside Nighthawks have been an established American football presence in Merseyside since 1992. The team has built on the foundations and slowly grew to become one of the more recognisable clubs in the North-West of England.

It was during the 2010s were the Nighthawks really rose to prominence, fuelled by back-to-back promotions and undefeated seasons to ensure the Nighthawk's first season in the Premier North division of the British American Football Association in 2016- where they have since remained. Key members of these teams are still in the building today as coaches and backroom staff, who continue to set the high standards that the Nighthawks demand.
